Dardanella

Dardanella is one of the exploration-type yachts, loosely based upon traditional deep-sea, well-deck trawlers. The challenge of building this yacht was balancing the fine line between a luxury yacht and a commercial vessel.

The interior, which accommodates the owners plus eight guests and six crew, is comfortable and luxurious, yet it also reflects the outside appearance of the vessel – there is an understated ‘masculine’ ambience on board.

A strong point of Dardanella is the variety of outside spaces. Some are used for relaxing and dining, but the most important area is undoubtedly the vast fore deck, on which the pair of tenders are located. These are launched and retrieved by a large, workmanlike 2.3-tons crane, its large boom completely operated by hydraulic rams and a hydraulic hoist. It could be argued that Dardanella epitomises the near perfect compromise between a commercial ship and a yacht.
